Open Question: Somebody kind English Native speaker help me to correct the grammar and structure?? (I'm from Japan)?
The following is an e-mail to ask for writing my recommendation for a job.
Please somebody help me!!!!!
TITLE: Letter of Recommendation
Dr XXXX
This is [MY NAME], an international student from Japan, who took Pol3572 Modernity
and its discontents in 2005 when you are at the University of ABC. You also supervised my short final paper on Japanese suicide and education upon my graduation. I hope you still remember me. I thank you for seeing my paper again.
I came back to Japan afterward, however finding a job was quite tough and I was not able to get a decent job at all for a couple of years. I finally was able to get a position at Buddhist temple in Kyoto, XXXX Temple. There I worked as a clerical to support this facility's religious and ritual ceremony, and also guided national and international visitors to briefly explain the history of the temple. Besides regular office work, my main interest to work there was to learn middle age Japanese
history based on world religious and historical perspective.
However, in last April, after the earthquake in north eastern Japan, I tore my left Achilles tendon completely during my Kendo practice. Kendo is the traditional martial arts, somewhat similar to western fencing. The monk fired me due to this injury. The monk's wife who originally hired me showed an understanding for my general interest and where I academically came from. She tried to lead me to develop my career upward while I was not able to receive a good understanding from the monk. I am jobless now.
I then contacted directly to the person who is in charge of martial arts facility in XXXX Shrine in central Kyoto for asking to hire me in last June even though I knew they are not recruiting any positions. XXXX Shrine is one of the leading Shinto Shrines in Japan that worship the emperor of XXXX Era. I contacted him because of my interest in both associating with Japanese modern history and continuation of Kendo.
The man in charge offered me three opportunities to meet to talk about my general interest so far. He gave me a book during the second meeting. I then translated and summarized the book XXXX written by Japanese college professor XXXX who studied comparative religion at XXXX University. However, besides offering me these chances,
he is still very much pondering "who" I am to verify I am a "decent" person because
it is quite unusual for the unknown person to contact the employer directly without somebody's recommendation especially for Japanese customs.
If you don't mind, I would like to ask you to write a "short" recommendation paper directed to him. I know you don't know me very well, so just the brief statement of some fact is appreciated. I will be 37 in this coming November. I ultimately want to work as a Jungian psychologist to deal with group psychology. I am developing an unusual career, but I am hoping to contribute a better diplomatic relationship among all nations.I was born under the certain culture, but I am neither religious nor politically skewed. The director, XXXX, is about 53 years old and a former officer of Japanese defense force and also was trained in XXXX Army Special Forces.
Sincerely yours
MY NAME
PS:
In my final paper, I cited the comments on the book XXXX.
The author XXXX, advisor of Supreme Commander of the Allied Power that determined the political direction of postwar Japan, lectured on Japanese society at XXXX University in 1940s.
