Open Question: Painting major, MFA- terrible idea?

Is getting a degree in painting a terrible idea? What if I got my masters in art history at Pratt, is that even useful? This is what I'm passionate about, but should it be my entire life, or just a side job/hobby/plan b?

I'm also interested in psychology, but a PhD (necessary to actually practice) is so expensive, and the process of getting to that point is so lengthy and painstaking.

I also love music; I play 6 instruments and sing. A music major though, like an art major, seems a bit impractical to me because I do not want to teach.

I have SAT scores high enough and a high school class rank high enough to get me into any state college and most private colleges. The only problem is the cost of most universities I dream of (Pratt, SCAD, Colombia, Puget Sound- all around 40k). I know UNT will give me great scholarships, bringing the cost of going there down to about 3,000 dollars a semester. The only problem is, I don't really want to go to UNT. I haven't applied for the other schools yet, because this whole life decision thing stresses me out. What should I do?

Open Question: Crayon art question?!?!?!?

Hi, ummm, I want to make one of those crayon art pictures were you glue crayons on a canvas and then you use a hair dryer up melt the crayons do they drip down... My question is how do people leave white spaces in the shape of hearts or words and stuff like that, do you just put tape where you want it white or maby like a cutout of what you want to keep white? Or what do you have
to do?

And is it better to use a white or black canvas?

Thanks!
