Open Question: I might get a chance to meet my hero- how should I act around him so he doesn't notice I idolize him?

No homo but I love Bill Cosby. I remember as a kid hysterical laughter coming from my parents as they watched his stand up and eventually I started picking up his records in my early teens (this was the 90s so a lot of them were already like 20-30 years old). I listened and I laughed and I understood that this was a truly great story teller and pudding pitch man. I watched the Cosby show and Fat Albert and even the Electric Company reruns on PBS.

I have a friend who I recently found out is good friends with the Cosby family. Her mother works for Temple University which he attended and still regularly visits. I asked how well they knew him, and she said he came to every birthday party and her high school graduation and college graduation, then showed me pictures of her and him through the years.

She said next time he is in Philly that we can go there and meet him but I have to be cool and not freak out. She said we could all go out for dinner but I can't ask him to sign my records or anything. She said it was cool if I got a picture with him though so I was happy enough.

How am I supposed to be cool around this man? How do you approach a living legend without betraying your excitement and awe?

Say what you want about his womanizing- Martin Luther King Jr. was a womanizer it doesn't take away from his contributions to society just like that doesn't take away from Mr. Cosby's contributions to the art of comedic performance and story telling.
