Open Question: Should I continue to read, write and draw?

I used to read and write a lot of books and stories, particularly for children. And I used to draw and sketch a lot when I was younger too and a lot of people seem to like my pictures and stories. But as time went on, I just stopped doing them. Like with writing, I always wanted to be and author and I dreamed about being like my writing influences like Roald Dahl, J.K. Rowling, C.S. Lewis and Brian Jacques. But people like my parents often told me it'd be unlikely if I got a book published or even become a paid writer and this really put me off writing and reading and I began to feel like maybe my stories weren't good enough and I ran out of ideas. And with drawing, I used to think I was gifted at it, but when I saw how better other people were in my art class and I only got mixed results in my work, I started to think I'm only mediocre at drawing and I got bored of it

But I'm now really focusing on acting because it's a lot more glamourous than writing and drawing because it's a great way of building confidence and impressing and entertaining people. But some people have told me that I should get back into reading, writing and drawing.
