Open Question: Job Suggestions - for a Creative-Analytical person whose strengths are Organizing, Planning, Creating Systems?
I am looking for a part-time job (possibly full-time), but I'm not sure what types of jobs would suit me.
I do not have any experience in actually looking for a job because I was hand-picked for my first (and so far, only) job. My geology professor asked me if I would be interested in being a student worker because I did well in the course with little effort and had demonstrated a personal interest in the subject.
So I spent 3 – 3.5 years as a student worker in the physical science department, and very much enjoyed working there.
I am now trying to find another job. I know conceptually what I am looking for in a job, but I am not certain what types of jobs would be a good fit for me or how to look for such a job.
Summary of Self:
I am a problem-solver. I enjoy challenges and puzzles. I like figuring out what is not working (or not working very well) and figuring out how to make it work (or make it work better).
I am a quick learner. I pick up on new concepts quickly and retain information well. I have a broad knowledge base.
My strength is in conceptualization, not in implementation. I do well with and very much enjoy planning, organizing, analyzing, and designing. But I start to lose interest and motivation once all the pieces have fallen into place – because there is no more puzzle, the problem is solved.
I am good at math but have absolutely no practical interest in it. I can enjoy working with numbers as data and facts (using charts / graphs / tables for comparing, analyzing, organizing), but not working with numbers as figures in calculations.
