Brown Council | Contemporary Australia: Women | GOMA
Brown Council is the collaborative practice of four Sydney-based artists. Together they make video and performance works drawing on the lineages of both the visual and performing arts. Engaging with concepts such as spectacle and endurance, their works create a space for dialogue between 'liveness' and the performance trace or document. Often switching roles, and sometimes outsourcing the performance altogether, Brown Council blurs the distinctions between actor and performance artist, and the role of their audiences as observers, participants, or accomplices. The Domestication of the Dog-AHS Animation Project
This is a short stop motion animation on the domestication of the dog. Mixed in the with the stop motion is a bit of computer animation done in Adobe Flash. This project was done shortly after our art history lectures which covered multiple topics. My partners and I found the most interesting topic to be the domestication of the dog during the Mesolithic (meso meaning middle) time period. We decided to take on the challenge of stop motion, and for it being our first animation project, I feel we did a really good job.
