Open Question: What is some good advice for someone trying to get into the University of Michigan as a transfer student?
I applied for fall 2012, but I was deferred and, ultimately, denied from the LSA school at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. It is still my dream school and I want to go there with all my heart. I am currently at Auburn University in Auburn Alabama and plan to get a 3.8 to a 4.0. I spoke with the University of Michigan representatives on the phone and they said it would be best to apply for the fall 2013 semester as a sophomore. I planned all of my classes using the University of Michigan transfer website, so I know all of my Auburn classes will transfer for equivalent credit. I'm off to a great start and maintaining a 4.0 with midterms just around the corner. I am an active member of the Student Writing Council and won second place in the Auburn University Common Book Writing Contest. I spent the 2 years before highschool in New Zealand. I graduated high school with a 3.2 gpa, 5s on the AP Lang, AP Lit, and AP 2D Studio Art exams and a 3 on the AP US History exam. I was published in my schools Literary Magazine repeatedly. I recieved third place in my high school's poetry contest one year. I held the same job all 4 years of high school and didn't have much room for other extra cirriculars. My dad went to U of M, so I am a legacy. What are the chances I can get in for the fall 2013 semester? Is there anything I should focus on to improve my chances of getting accepted? Thanks so much!
