1990 : Andrew Lakey on ABC News (Archival / 1st TV Appearance)
 | This is an archival clip from 1990 and the picture and audio quality are limited due to the transfer from VHS. It marks the first ever TV appearance for artist Andrew (Andy) Lakey, where in 1990 a regional news segment titled for Art for the Blind was aired in the San Diego area on the local ABC News affiliate station. The segment was picked up nationally at the request of ABC News anchor Peter Jennings, who happened to be reporting from San Diego that evening, and who was intrigued by the painter, his technique and the paintings featured. The airing of this segment nationally begins the history of Lakey's celebrity following leading directly to his first collector base; Jennings himself, who donated his painting to "Lighthouse For The Blind" charity in New York, Ray Charles, whose manager saw the clip and commissioned a work for the musician from Lakey, singer Stevie Wonder, and many others.
