Open Question: Some high school questions...?

I'm going to be 14 in August and have been homeschooled my entire life. I'm going to be a freshman this fall and going to public school for an art class and creative writing class, as those are two of my talents/passions. I'm going to sound really stupid to people who have been to high school, but I want to make sure that I don't sound stupid when I actually go to high school.
Do I have to take my own art supplies or does the school provide them? If I have to take my own what should I take?
When should I use my locker and what all do people usually put in them?
During roll call when the teacher says your name, do you raise your hand or say "here" or does it not matter?
What are some things that I should NOT do under any circumstances?

Thank you so much if you answer! I know I sound really stupid, but I've just never been to a real school so I have no clue what to do, haha.

Open Question: Help with my essay, need to add more words?

I'm writing and essay for a contest, and the minimum word amount is 750 words, and I only have 396 :/
I am writing about an important invention, and I chose the camera. Please read my essay and tell me what else I should add (I won't copy and paste, I'll put your idea in my own words!)

Here it is:

When we snap a photo with our camera, we usually don’t think about how different life would be without it. Without cameras, we wouldn’t be able to capture memories in on picture. Imagine life without school photos, vacation photos, and pictures ID’s. With this amazing device, we have the ability to document the important events in our lives, and treasure those memories forever.

The camera was first designed by Joseph Nicephore Niepce, a retired military officer from France in 1826. It was known as the “obscura” and was made out of two wooden boxes- one box with a lens and the other with a screen. Before, it was used for viewing images, but now people could take photographs with it. In 1840, William Fox Talbot perfected the photograph method. A photo was developed by mercury vapor, and then salt was used on it. Each step led to 1888, when George Eastman made the first simple camera available to all. This would change the world and make life simple for many.

Without cameras, we wouldn’t be able to view history through photographs. We wouldn’t have any photos of the first man on the moon, or a famous battle during war. If you look through any photo album, you can learn the life story of anyone. “A picture is worth a thousand words” is a quote we’ve all heard, but that’s because it’s true. Cameras can capture events and people, and each person who looks at a photo will learn a different story. This great invention has changed history, capturing a special message in every photo.

The camera is a great contribution to a generation of art- you can capture a moment in time and have a huge affect on people. We can take photos of any special event, and in that photo we have captured a memory that will stay with us forever. The camera also helps us communicate. Anyone can look at a photo and find out something new, no matter what language they speak. The camera helps us capture different moments and helps us communicate through photos.

In conclusion, the camera is an incredible invention that has changed the lives of many. We are able to snap a photo that will stay with us forever, and create thousands of memories. The camera has changed the world, leaving us with a different story for each photo.

Let me know what I should add. I am really stuck and I need to basically double my word amount. Thank you SO much for your time!
