Voting Question: is it true your not suppose to fight for real untill 16 in MMA? is that new? MMA is good for kids....?

it seems like i heard this somewhere that MMA fighters to fight full contact with no pads or helmets had to be at least 16? i have trained martial arts since i was very young. at age 11 i fought in regulation octagons with no protective gear other then a mouth guard. i remember seeing it on the news, they were talking about how its to dangerous for kids my age. and me writing the congressmen or who ever he was that had a problem with this saying, "its not up to anyone but me if i want to fight, so im not 18 i can't make my own choices? i don't get rights?"
(ya even back then i was way ahead of most adults in maturity, hell at 12 i watched the presidential debates when all my friends were watching cartoons)
there argument was because we were to immature and did not know when enough was enough, but real UFC fighters are much worse this way, we were all friends, and did it for fun, not to hurt people. If one of us got hit and went down we stopped, not jump on top and beat there faces in like the "mature adults" do.

BTW i did this from 1999 to 2005(11-17) so things were a little different back then. when i turned 17 i joined the Army and stopped keeping up with the sport. i only picked it back up this week (no more getting shot at! yay!) and noticed there were no kids like me, when i was 11 i was hardcore into fighting (still am), now there were kids that age there but none who seemed really into it, and they were all over weight. when i was 11 i looked like a fighter, had abs, a mohawk, always wore shirts with no sleeves, i was a very intimidating little boy, hell i even got a tattoo on my arm to look scarier, parents were pissed about that.... snuck out at 2 am and went with a friend, he knew someone who would do it no matter how old we were. so i got a rattle snake and "Don't Tread on Me" tattooed on my right arm at 12 years old...still love that tattoo

also i think there are way to many rules now so kids don't bother maybe? it just makes me sad to see only a few little fat kids in my old gym, place used to be packed.

to many people shelter there kids now-a-days...such a shame, and the schools, all they do is set everyone up to work behind a desk, well not everyone is meant to work behind a desk, i wasn't, still don't i am now a well paid gunsmith, drive a 2010 Camaro SS, live in a nice house, and don't have a diploma, left school to join the Army, don't remember a single thing they tried to teach me...getting off topic, sorry, just saying MMA and fighting is good for kids. would not be where i am today without it, then again everyone is differant...

any thoughts?
