Open Question: Favorite anime shows and movies?

Or manga, if you wish. What do you recommend?

Please, nothing like Pokémon, Bleach, Sailor Moon, etc. I like fantasy/action/adventure, but nothing like this.
Other random themes I like/am interested in: scifi, noir, dystopian, apocalyptic/post-apocalyptic, historical (fiction or non-fiction), surreal/"mind f*ck", "alternative"/"underground" culture, outcasts/loners/"losers", thriller/suspense, dreams/the subconscious, mental disorders, music, fashion, art...

I really like Satoshi Kon's and Hayao Miyazaki's works, Cowboy Bebop, Akira, Gatchaman, FLCL, Interstella 5555, NANA (love NANA. Wish another season would be made. Oh, and I watched Paradise Kiss, too, but I didn't think it was as good as NANA)... I love the Death Note manga...

Most recent show I've seen is Welcome to the N.H.K., which I enjoyed a lot. Although it was cheesy and too over-the-top at times, I liked that it dealt with real life issues (which I could kind of relate to since I happen to suffer from anxiety and depression). And that's partly why I like NANA, too...

Anyway, sorry for the rant. Anyone? :)
